Architect
Dualchas Architects is a Scottish practice working from the Isle of Skye and Glasgow, founded by brothers Neil and Alasdair Stephen, known for contemporary Highland and Hebridean houses rooted in the region's building traditions and landscape. The name is Gaelic for heritage. Their work reinterprets vernacular forms like the blackhouse and the longhouse in modern materials, guided by a belief that architecture is a form of storytelling tied to place, community and the Gàidhealtachd. They were named Architectural Practice of the Year at the 2025 Scottish Design Awards. Built work ranges from rural houses across the Highlands and islands to the Highland Cinema in Fort William and the Ionad Hiort St Kilda centre.
