Our Criteria

Slow Casa exists because most of the world's most interesting vacation homes are genuinely difficult to find. They sit quietly on the websites of small architects, local rental agencies or private owners — invisible to anyone who doesn't already know to look. We look so you don't have to.

Our focus is European homes in nature: places where the landscape is the point, where good design is a given, and where the experience of staying is distinct from anything a hotel could offer. We call this "try before you buy" — most of our readers are somewhere on the journey from city life toward a different way of living. These homes are part of that research.

What we look for

• 01Design that is considered. Architect-designed properties are preferred, though exceptional owner-renovated homes are equally welcome. The standard is that someone thought carefully about every decision.
• 02A genuine connection to the landscape. The home should feel like it belongs where it is — materially, visually, culturally. We are not interested in generic luxury dropped into beautiful scenery.
• 03Nature as the primary setting. Mountains, coast, forest, farmland, river valley. We do not list urban properties, resort complexes or properties within city boundaries.
• 04A sense of place. The neighbourhood matters as much as the house. We want guests to understand where they are and why it is worth being there.
• 05Honest quality. The property should deliver on its promise. We read guest reviews carefully and take them seriously.

What we never include

• Properties within cities or resort complexes
• Homes that feel interchangeable with any other luxury rental
• Properties with paid placement or commercial arrangements
• Anything we wouldn't stay in ourselves

How to submit a property

If you own or manage a property that you believe meets our criteria, we welcome submissions. We review every enquiry personally and respond to those that are a genuine fit. We do not charge for listing and we do not guarantee inclusion.
