Finca Es Rafal

Set at the centre of Mallorca at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains, three minutes walk from the village gate of Alaró and flanked by the twin peaks visible from almost everywhere on the island, Finca Es Rafal sits among almond and carob trees in a working farm landscape, ten minutes on foot from the Saturday market, at the start of the G221 long-distance hiking trail and the famous climb to Alaró Castle, with Palma twenty-five minutes away by car.

Taken over in the first summer of 2020 by a couple building a life around an unhurried way of living, drawing on their experience running a Cape Dutch farm stay in Cape Town, Finca Es Rafal was renovated with its original Mallorcan stone and timber beams kept intact and an interior sensibility that earned features in leading Spanish and French design magazines across four consecutive years. The main house holds four ensuite bedrooms and a classical orangery as its social heart, with a master suite facing the twin peaks, a country kitchen, multiple terraces, a saltwater pool, and a jacuzzi, while a separate guest house offers privacy for larger groups. The farm produces almonds, carobs, olives, and medicinal-grade honey, guests arrive to a bottle of the estate's own olive oil, and sheep, hens, and Shetland ponies roam the grounds freely.
