Villa
Son Rullan is a 14th-century former Templar monastery in the hills above Deià, on Mallorca's north-west coast. The old stone buildings, some still partly in ruins, are now the country home of the fashion designer Sybilla. It sleeps twelve across eight bedrooms, with a pool that looks out over the sea.
Overview

Living Spaces
Inside, the rooms are whitewashed, with timber beams and stone floors, and they feel bright rather than old. There is one big living room and a full kitchen, with tables for eating both inside and out. A yoga studio with room for 16 makes it a good fit for retreats as well as families.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
There are eight bedrooms over three levels, each a little different. One queen room is in the old chapel, the main suite has its own large bathroom, and there is a children's room with twin beds and a room with three singles under the roof. There are seven full bathrooms and a guest toilet.

The Environment
The pool looks straight out to the Mediterranean, and the house sits in a semi-wild garden inside a finca of old olive trees. Patios and terraces all around look along the coast to Sa Foradada, and there is a barbecue for eating outside.

The Location
Deià is a small stone village on the Tramuntana coast, known for the artists and writers who have lived there, Robert Graves among them. A long footpath leads from the house down to the village, and Cala Deià, the rocky cove below, is about a 30-minute walk from there. The small beach at Llucalcari is reached on foot or by boat. Palma airport is about 40 km away, and you will want a car.
