Loulé · Algarve
Set in the rural Algarve interior near the historic town of Loulé in the parish of São Sebastião, on a piece of land with fruit trees and distant sea views, Casa Linear sits halfway between the central Algarve coast and the hinterland, eighteen kilometres from the beaches at Falesia, Loulé Velho, Olhos d'Agua, and Ancão, twenty-two from the spectacular bays of Albufeira, and twenty-five minutes from the Ria Formosa nature reserve, a wild lagoon of heavenly islands reachable by water taxi from Faro, Olhão, Fuseta, or Tavira.
Bought as a ruin in 2016 by a Portuguese and Belgian couple who chose this rural land for its character that reminded them of her Belgian Ardennes, Casa Linear was rebuilt over three years of pushing open doors, negotiating, digging, drilling, and planting, day by day, as they declutter their lives and relearn simplicity. Now a small holiday house for up to four guests plus a baby, the owners welcome visitors personally with tips and good addresses for the region before stepping back to let guests enjoy the quiet for a relaxing stay with family or friends.
