Santa Bárbara de Nexe · Algarve
Casa Luum is up in the quiet hills behind Faro, near the village of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, at the end of a dirt road. It's surrounded by old olive, almond and cork trees, with plenty of space and quiet. The beaches and the Ria Formosa lagoon are a short drive down the hill, and Loulé, Faro and Tavira are all close for a market or a meal.
The house was an old ruin that the architect Pedro Domingos rebuilt into a modern home. It's all clean lines and bright white walls, with big windows that pull in the light and frame the trees outside. Water is a big part of it, with a pool that mirrors the house and the sky. Inside there are four bedrooms, a fireplace and a big family kitchen, and you can book a private chef if you want one. It's calm and simple, made for slow days in the sun.
