Larvik · Vestfold
Set at the end of a quiet dead-end street on a sunny hillside above the southern Norwegian coast near the town of Larvik, embedded between rocks and meadows and sheltered from the wind, Vindlyveien sits within walking distance of Hvittensand beach and the small bays of the Vestfold coast, in a region of pine forests, fishing villages, and Viking-era heritage along the kyststien coastal path.
Designed in 1967 by Norwegian architect Ulrik Hellum, known for his simple huts perfectly at one with nature, Vindlyveien is unassuming from outside but opens into 180 square metres of preserved mid-century Scandinavian interior, with three bedrooms, two sitting areas, a library with desk, an open kitchen and dining room, and fireplaces for the colder months when hygge becomes the dominant principle.
