Aljezur · West Algarve
Set in the hills of the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve on the wild west Algarve, surrounded by fields with the ocean visible in the distance, Maybe October sits five minutes by car (or fifteen by foot) from the small town of Aljezur, in a quiet, peaceful, ancient part of southern Portugal where the sun rises above the weathered cork trees and sets behind the old hilltop castle of Aljezur, with the home beach of Amoreira an eight-minute drive or a walk through the hills, the excellent surf at Arrifana and Monte Clerigo fifteen minutes further, and Faro Airport an hour away.
A hundred-and-twenty-year-old farmhouse built from the land itself, Maybe October has been carefully restored by its current owners with natural and local materials, driven by a passion for a healthy living environment and a love for detail, photographed by Anna Fichtner. The house is available all to oneself, with a particular emphasis on prioritising sleep, considered amenities, and the slow rhythm of the surrounding Costa Vicentina, in a part of the Portuguese coast that remains genuinely undeveloped.
